Holly Bakke Listed among New Jersey’s Women of Influence
Holly Bakke, former New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance Commissioner for Governor James McGreevy, was named one of the most influential women in New Jersey by NJBIZ. The list was released in 2003 during Bakke’s tenure as Commissioner wherein she has successfully accomplished promoting auto, health, and banking reforms, all in a span of three short years.
Bakke made a positive turnaround for the auto insurance market of New Jersey by passing on new auto insurance reform legislation to make coverage available and affordable for safe drivers. She has also promoted the most hard-hitting penalties for auto insurance fraud, expanded consumer protections and lowered the number of uninsured drivers. Holly Bakke also endorsed the New Jersey Home Ownership Security Act, known as the Anti-Predatory Lending Law, that provided some of the nation’s strongest defenses to prevent citizens from losing their homes and assets due to unjust mortgage lending practices.
She is a founding member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Court, is part of the faculty of the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association where she chaired both the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and the Judicial Administration Committee.
This second list of New Jersey’s Women of Influence consisted of 25 leaders belonging to various fields – from banking to neuroscience, and ranging from directors of nonprofits to senior executives of multinational companies.
